Back at it again with a non-make-up artist tutorial. I’m really enjoying experimenting with make-up more and more. I thought I’d share my go-to look for days off work.
I recently went to an event hosted by Medi-Care in Forestside with Aideen Murphy and the team from Powder ‘n’ Pout and came away more inspired than ever! Aideen is one of my favourite Irish Youtubers, so obviously I was beyond excited to watch her do her thing. As well as Aideen’s demo, we were treated to a demo from the owner of Powder ‘n’ Pout, Aisling Cunningham. The passion Aisling presented for the genuine love and care she has for her business was extremely motivating.
The point of me informing you about Aideen and Aisling is because I used Powder ‘n’ Pout eye brushes and Aideen’s skincare tips to create this look.
Let’s Get Started
Make sure your skin is free of any previous make up or oils before beginning.
Prime your skin with Collection’s Matte Primer to minimise my pores. I like to warm the primer up with my fingertips before applying it to my face.
My favourite foundation for days off is Milani Conceal and Perfect Foundation. It has the perfect coverage – medium to full.
To cover up any unwanted bags, conceal with BPerfect’s concealer.
Powder any oily areas to prevent your make up creasing using a translucent powder. I’m a huge fan of Maybelline Fit Me Matte Powder.
To begin contouring, I used the ‘sculpt’ shade from the LMD/ BPerfect Palette to chisel out your cheek bone and jawline, and the shade ‘cream’ from NYX Highlight and Contour Pro single for under the eyes and just above the jawline.
To warm up your colour, bronze with the Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Bronzer in the shade ‘bronzed beauty’ (available at Marks and Spencer).
Highlight the areas where the light naturally hits with the Milani Highlighter.
Eyebrow time- I still struggle with applying eyebrows. “They’re sisters, not twins”…well mine don’t look like they’re related! I used Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade but my everyday eyebrow product of choice is Benefit Gimme Brow.
My favourite eyeshadow palette to use on casual days or even to work is the Profusion Smoky palette. It is honestly one of the best quality palettes I own and probably the cheapest!
To start, I highlighted my brow bone with the
I used … as my transition colour, blending it half way across the lid and close to my brow bone.
Go in the the … to create a heavier look. Blend
Use the darker shade of brown in the outer corner of your eyelid to smoke the shadows out.
On the inner corners of your lid, use the copper shimmer shade.
My current mascara is Mega Volume: Miss Baby Doll by L’Oreal. It gives my lashes so much volume and length…who needs false lashes?!
Draw a darker line with Mac ‘Spice’ lipliner to create the bigger lip look followed by NYX Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shades Dubai and Cairo.
Set your make up for the day with Revolution Pro Fix Setting Spray. I never leave the house without setting my make up! Revolution’s setting spray is my everyday use but if I’m heading out for the night or to an event, Urban Decay All Nighter Spray is my go-to!
