Current Skincare and Hair care Routine

At the age of 23, I’ve decided it’s probably about time I start a proper skincare and hair care routine. I’ve always just been a moisturiser kind of girl but as my skin starts to change, I had to step up the game.

Skincare

Skin type: oily to normal, prone to hormonal breakouts, starting to notice fine lines on my forehead.

For oiliness and breakouts: Dermalogica Fizz Mask and Breakout Clearing Booster, Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal Extract Alcohol-Free Toner.

To avoid breakouts and those annoying little blackheads on my nose, I used the Dermalogica Fizz Mask; once you use this, you won’t turn back. I am completely obsessed with it! I haven’t had a major breakout since I received it in July! If I think I might be getting a spot or even if Caolan gets a spot, we use the Dermalogica Breakout Clearing Booster. It can be used directly on the spot or even lightly over all of the face under moisturiser. In my opinion, it isn’t like other spot treatments because it doesn’t dry out your skin which is an added bonus!

When I was a lot younger I would have used Simple Toner but I couldn’t see the benefits. Now that I have started using the Kiehl’s Calendula toner I see such a difference in my skin. It really helps with my complexion and evens out my skin tone, calming any redness and scars from spots.

Simple light moisturiser with SPF 15 – it’s the lightest moisturiser that still does the trick. I previously spent a bomb on the Mac Lightful C moisturiser and to be completely honest, it was a waste of money. I’d rather stick to my £3 Simple moisturiser.

For overnight care: Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

The first time I received this in a goodie bag I thought I wouldn’t be able to use it because of my already oily skin. I was very, very wrong. Applied before you go to bed, the oil helps rejuvenate your skin overnight, replenishing and restoring it.

For puffy, tired eyes: Garnier Eye Masks and Feel Good Contacts’ Thera-Peral Eye Mask

If I don’t get a good night’s sleep (which is often, unfortunately), I am prone to puffy eyes with dark circles. To prevent this I’ve been using a couple of products such as the Garnier Eye Masks which have a cooling effect and my Thera-Peral Eye Mask from Feel Good Contacts. I keep the eye mask in the fridge and use it when I’m having a lie down to cool my eyes and reduce puffiness. The eye mask can be used as a warm mask for dry eyes and soreness.

Hair care

Hair type: normal to dry.

I wash my hair every other day and if possible, try my best to go an extra day if possible. I avoid using heated stylers on my hair but if I’m heading to an event or out, I will use a curling wand or GHDs and find my hair is dry and tatty the next day. To prevent this, I’ve started using MoroccanOil Destination Repair Kit. It’s so nice to be able to see a difference in the texture of hair before and after I have washed it.
